HOPEFUL WAITING!!

Hopeful waiting!
Verse for Today: Thursday, January 09, 2014
Psalms 130:6 – My soul waits for the Lord more than the watchmen for the morning, indeed more than the watchmen for the morning.

A distressed person who is submerged in anguish and fear desperately waits for a release. He dwells in darkness all night, craving for the dawn with hopes for someone to come and release him. But mornings and evenings seem to come in succession without much relief from the cloudy and dark situations. Our expectations are often like mirages and we run after it in vain. Friends, wealth and technology seem to fall short of our expectations to give us a release from the tangles in life. Human wisdom proves to no avail as it takes away our hopes and cravings for relief. The helpless world system creates a large army of people who are perennially frustrated and live with grumbling. This endless futile wait gives them added tension and stress which slowly eats away their emotional realms and bodies through infirmities. Many are depending on medicines to function properly, behave decently and sleep slightly. Others escape the reality of their frustrated life by giving themselves to substance abuse which destroys their minds and bodies. But if only we allow God to come and get us out of the mess that we are in life, we would find purposefulness in life. God’s children can always find solace in the presence of God and claim His promises to get out of the traps in life. There is always a person to go to and a place to rest and wait for the realization of the hope that is given to us by God. When we wait for Him, our God will come at the right time to meet us in the depth of our needs and the traps of the world. When we wait for God’s promises to be fulfilled at His time, His light will dawn on us.

Dear friend, have you been waiting in the dark alleys and the byways of life with no hope for a release from your rough situations? Are you becoming weary and feeling miserable because of the long drawn out waiting in desperation? But your Lord who has promised to rescue and deliver you will certainly come at the right moment. Waiting for a release is not at all easy when we go through pain and distress. It often fills us with confusion and doubt and takes away our hope. Abraham, Joseph and Moses waited for long before God’s answers came to them. Christian life is one of waiting and watching, and as we tarry, our hope is renewed by our Lord. He fills our hearts with hope and faith to trust Him to fulfill His promises. He knows how heavy our burdens are and how hard the night of waiting in darkness is. So God comes to comfort and reassure us that He will definitely come soon. As we wait, He gives us the courage and boldness to face our situation with the hope of His intervention. He will never be late as He does all things perfectly. We must guard against taking detours as we wait in desperation. We should not succumb to temptation to follow our wisdom, but must follow according to God’s wisdom. Oh friend, are you waiting for that job to come through, the business take a positive turn, healing for which you have been waiting for ’38’ years, that dear one to get saved or paying off that debt? The Lord knows your desperation and will come before long with His solutions to your situation. The heavenly intervention in your affairs will dawn on you soon. Then you will know the value of waiting for long as the answer will be far better than you would have envisaged.

Psalms 130:5 – I wait for the Lord, my soul does wait, and in His Word do I hope.
Thought for Today
God waits for you to become mature enough to handle the best that He is about to give you.
