Answer: Paul in his address to Galatians eliminates any relation between salvation and works by saying “man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ,…” Galatians 2:16. For by grace are ye saved through faith-Ephesians 2:8.
Though it is the grace of God that saves a sinner, faith is the channel that brings that ‘grace of God’ to man. Man can realize God’s grace only through faith in Lord Jesus Christ. Hebrews 11:6 “And without faith it is impossible to please God”.
Hence a believer is “justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:”(Romans 3:24) so “that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.” (Romans 3:28)
