#2 Q&A – Do we have to do any other thing to stay saved?

Do we have to do any other thing to stay saved?

name not disclosed

Answer:  First of all, there is nothing like “stay saved”. If a believer is saved today, then he is saved forever. He is saved once and for all. For Christ is the “Author and Finisher of our Faith.” (Hebrews 12:2). Paul also gives the assurance that God who “hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:” (Phil 1:6). Hence God has not begun a good work and left it into our hands to finish it. But He himself will complete it. “The Security of a Believer” is an indissoluble doctrine in the Bible. Moreover salvation can never be based on works but only of faith.

But Paul also makes it clear that we are “created in Christ Jesus unto good works” (Ephesians 2:10). Paul exhorts Timothy to study the Word of God so “That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works” (2 Timothy 3:17). So a believer never does any of his works to be saved or stayed saved. But rather, because he is already saved, he performs good works.

Nevertheless, no matter how great a believer’s good works are; at the end of it all, he is only an unprofitable servant (Luke 17:10) and the basis of his salvation is only on the grace of God by faith.
