FEASTS OF FIRSTFRUITS [Sermon Notes]

Feasts of Firstfruits

Posted here is the sermon delivered by Br. Amis Lopes at Assembly Bible Classes between 23rd April to 29th April.

Passage of Reference:(Lev 23.9-14)

Jehovah’s feasts were primarily for Israel, but they speak very exclusively about Lord Jesus Christ. The feast of Passover speaks about the death of Lord Jesus, The feast of Unleavened Bread speaks about the burial of Lord Jesus, and the feast of Firstfruits depicts the resurrection of Lord Jesus. This is one day feast (17th day of Nissan month) which occurs during the feast of unleavened bread.

Israelites used to bring their firstfruits to God. Lord Jesus Christ is the firstfruit (1 Cor 15.20). There were many people who rose again from the dead (Jairus’ daughter, son of the widow of Nain, Lazarus), but they weren’t immortal, they had to die again one day. But our Lord rose again on the 3rd day (Sunday) to live eternally. Lord Jesus is not only the firstfruit but also the best fruit. God has given His best for our redemption. Lord Jesus is greater than Abraham, Melchizedek, Moses, Aaron, David, Solomon, Jonah, Temple etc. There is none like Lord Jesus.

The people of Israel could not enjoy the harvest unless the sheaf was presented to God (Lev 23.14).
Beloved, our first fruit, and best fruit are to be given for God first and then for us. It is God’s desire that we should give Him the first priority in everything (Exo 20, Pro 3.9-10).

  1. God should be first in our Pedagogic/educational life
  2. God should be first in our Professional life
  3. GOD should be first in our Personal life
  4. God should be first in our Public life
  5. God should be first in our Place of worship (church) life

If we put God first we will never be the last
