RECEIVING FAR ABOVE EXPECTATIONS!

RECEIVING FAR ABOVE EXPECTATION!

Verse for Today: Tuesday, March 08, 2011
Matthew 7:11 – If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in Heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!

There is a great challenge for God’s children to ask their Father in Heaven for good things and see how He would respond in an exceedingly greater manner. The Heavenly Father is compared with earthly fathers who usually give good gifts to their children. All the gifts they give are according to their capacity and understanding. What they give as good gifts might end up in not being so good because of the imperfection in their understanding of what is good and what is not. But such difficulties are never envisaged with regard to the Heavenly Father. He is the embodiment of all goodness and nothing else will ever emanate from Him to His beloved children. He knows what is good for His children and what is not. He also knows how much is necessary for His children in terms of its dimensions. He gives far more than we ever ask for because we do not know what to ask for and how much to ask Him. He gives according to His capacity and the height of His glory. Considering all the imperfections in our asking, He rules and overrules all our human frailties to give us what is best in the finest quality. He is the Father who fed His children with finest wheat and even manna which was the food of angels. He knows what is needed at what time and will never be late or early. He makes sure that we have the capacity to handle what He gives and so He equips us to receive His gifts before it is handed over to us. His gifts are not temporal, but eternal so that it would be useful to meet our needs now and in the future.

Dear reader, have you been asking the right person for gifts to meet your needs? Perhaps some of your needs are very urgent and you might need quick answers from the Father in Heaven. Perhaps you would have concluded what you wanted to meet a certain need. But when you ask your Heavenly Father, you need not be concerned about these details. Your Heavenly Father knows much better than you what is best for you and when is the perfect time to receive it. He knows your needs no matter what they are. Perhaps you have physical needs for basic things like food, shelter, transport, clothing and other amenities. Perhaps you need peace, patience and joy in life and relief from stress. You probably need a source of income to meet basic expenses. Sometimes you might be asking for spiritual gifts so that these can be used for the Lord and His church here on earth. You might be also looking for ways to meet your emotional needs like getting rid of fear, anxiety, anger, doubt and confusion. Perhaps you have been trapped in some conflict by someone and you might want to get out of it. Somebody would have sowed the seeds of enmity in your realm. No matter what the need or the situation that you are passing through, the Lord knows all about it and He is able and willing to give you the right gifts for every situation or context. But it is our responsibility to ask Him and ask with importunity. Our Heavenly Father is far greater than the best parents on earth and He knows exactly what will meet our needs and will give it to us at the right time for our comfort, strength, peaceful sleep and encouragement. It is our prerogative to ask Him because He is our Father and it is His prerogative to give because we are His children. The details like schedules can be left with Him to decide, but we need to keep on asking Him and keep on knocking at His door. Ask also for graceful waiting for His answers at His time which is the right way to be blessed by His answers to meet our needs.

Ephesians 3:20 – Now all glory to God, who is able, through His mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. (NLT)

Thought for Today
We are often in for a big surprise at the way God answers our prayers infinitely more than we might ask or think.
