Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints: Psalm 116:15.

Eulogy written by Sister Bincy Abraham (Daugher of Appachayan)

Psalm 84

1 How lovely is your dwelling place, O LORD Almighty!

2 My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the LORD;

my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.

3 Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself,

where she may have her young— a place near your altar, O LORD Almighty, my King and my God.

4 Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you.

Selah

5 Blessed are those whose strength is in you, who have set their hearts on pilgrimage.

10 Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere;

I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.

11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor;

no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless.

12 O LORD Almighty, blessed is the man who trusts in you.

We wholeheartedly agree with the Psalmist knowing that when our dear Daddy breathed his last on earth, he breathed his first breath in the presence of his KING. He is now in the courts of our Lord, praising Him in perfect harmony! We do not grieve as those who don’t have hope, because we hope not in man but in our Lord who redeemed us and died for us. We are deeply thankful to our most loving God who gave daddy 83 yrs on earth. Our hearts are sad because we miss his presence with us. We want to take this time to glorify our God by honoring the memory of our dear daddy.

Daddy was a caring husband, a diligent and loving father, a disciplined man, always punctual if not a few minutes early, a wonderful singer, always had a sweet smile on his handsome face, loved all types of food especially sweet foods, a witty man, always young at heart, and most importantly he feared the Lord his GOD. Daddy wasn’t the speaker or preacher type, but we knew that he loved his Lord in the quiet way he served behind the scenes, and also in his faithfulness to his responsibilities at church. Daddy’s desire was to live a life worthy of the Lord who had called him & saved him! God gave dad the beautiful gift of singing and dad used it so well to bless his own family and others. Daddy loved to sing the old classic Malayalam songs written by Simon Saar. Early on in their married life, mom fondly recalls dad playing the mouth organ in the evenings out on the verandah of their flat. Growing up the four girls didn’t totally appreciate being woken up early in the morning to Simon Saar’s music blasting from the tape recorder, but it instilled in all of us a love of music. We’re sure it wasn’t easy for Daddy (and mummy) to raise FOUR girls and the only way he knew how was by being strict and firm with us but that’s only because he cared for us. We are thankful to God who gave daddy much grace and strength in life. We never doubted daddy’s love and concern for us and deep down we know he was proud of each of us. As we grew older our relationship with daddy also seemed to grow, taking on a new form. We’ve enjoyed hearing stories of his childhood, talking about current events in the world, and praising God for how He’s moving in the church. Daddy knew he was blessed not just with four daughters who are walking with the Lord, but with 4 amazing sons-in-law who also love the Lord, and 6 wonderful grandchildren. He loved his grandkids deeply and prayed for them faithfully . He has been blessed to see them grow into young men and young girl walking with the Lord Jesus.

It is so hard to shorten a lifetime of memories into a 5minute talk. We know the process of letting go is not easy, but we also know with peaceful hearts that Dad’s time on earth was fulfilled by his Lord. We love our daddy and we will miss him deeply but we know that this separation is tempor ary. God has promised us who believe in Jesus, a reunion that will be perfect, and it is with that hope we celebrate the life of daddy! Thankyou for coming and joining our family in remembering a life that was lived with joy, hope, and peace that could only be achieved through the saving blood of Jesus Christ.

Last time Appychayan was seen in our assembly was on the occasion of Sunday School anniversary (dated 25th July 2010)
