CURE FOR LONELINESS!!

Cure for loneliness!

Verse for Today: Monday, November 04, 2013

2 Timothy 4:11 – Only Luke is with me. Get Mark and bring him with you, because he is helpful to me in my ministry.

Loneliness is one of the greatest problems we face in our so-called overpopulated earth. Wherever we go we find people and crowd, but everywhere people seem to be lonely. They desire close friendship and associations which are hard to find. Some are lonely because they are alienated by others due to prejudice, discrimination and hatred. Others are lonely because they alienate themselves because of inferiority complex, phobia and depression. There are many shut-ins in high-rise buildings, penitentiaries, long term care facilities and mental asylums. All of these people seek company, care, love and compassion from others. Some seem to think they can find an easy way out of loneliness with the help of pets, computer games or substance abuse. Loneliness leads man to be physically and emotionally ill as they go through the dark valleys of life. But God’s children have a friend in Jesus whose presence takes away their feeling of being all alone. Apostle Paul was lonely in a Roman dungeon, but he kept writing letters to churches and friends and engaged in the ministry of prayer for all the saints. Our loneliness, whether imposed upon us by our circumstances and other people or our own making through self-imposed alienation, will lead us to unbelief, phobia and doubts and make us grieve the Spirit of God through negative feelings and thinking. If unchecked, loneliness will stop us from praising God for all our situations and circumstances. When we are lonely, we have the Spirit of God to speak to us and the presence of God to confide in.

Dear friend, are you feeling all alone and alienated? Do you crave for a close friend to share intimate feelings and thoughts? Are you seeking a prayer partner but can’t find one? Today God comes to remind you that you are not alone and so you don’t need to feel lonely. God is your constant companion. He lives in your heart and His Spirit dwells in you. His Word is deposited in your heart. You are seated with Christ in the heavenly places. God never leaves you nor forsakes you. You have full free and easy access to the presence of God any time at any place. You can talk to your Heavenly Father all the time without any appointment. When you feel all alone and when your dear ones alienate or leave you, forsake you and reject you, God is with you and He will never forsake you. When the world rejects and resents us, we have an anchor in our Lord. When we sit all alone and experience the bitter taste of friendlessness, Jesus comes to us and shows us that He is our friend, philosopher and guide. On our lonely pathways, Jesus is our travel companion. He walks and talks with us and He reassures us of His presence and provisions for us on all the days of our lives. It was this reassurance that made Paul fight loneliness with ministry, prayer and fellowship with those who were available for him to converse. Jesus was sufficient for Paul to lean on to during the wilderness journey. So cheer up, dear friend, and take courage. Your Lord is with you all the time. Physically you might be going through a spell of loneliness, but the invisible hands of the Lord are upon you as it was the case with Apostle John in Patmos.  Today Jesus is with you to fill your lonely hours with His awesome presence and shower His peace, love, mercy and grace upon you to make your life exciting.

2 Timothy 4:17 – “But the Lord stood at my side and gave me strength.”

Thought for Today
Jesus fills our vision with Himself when we are rejected and resented by all around.

Prayer for Today
Dear Lord Jesus: Fill my vision today with your glory so that I would not feel all alone when I am rejected and resented by those around me. Amen!
