Jesus and Decision making : Luke 6:12

In Luke 6:12 we read Jesus went to the mountain to pray and continued all night in prayer to God. This is the second instance of Luke mentioning the prayer life of Jesus. What is the context? Jesus is about to take a major decision in his life. The Apostles who have to be with him for the next three years are being selected. There were many disciples, all had different qualities and characteristics. They were the ones who had to take the gospel to the ends of the world. They were the ones who turned the world upside down. So He had to take the decision of who He would choose.

When we face major decisions in our life, what is the place of prayer in it? We run to all our earthly advisors, parents, friends, teachers, mentors and even use our own logic. We break our heads over it, spent sleepless nights tossing and rolling in bed, if only we could spend these nights in prayer & spend time with God- the master of wisdom. How much peace we often forfeit, just because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.

As we face decisions in life let us run to Him who is all wise, listen to Him and be guided by Him.
