SINGING WORM!!

Singing worm!

Verse for Today: Sunday, December 8, 2013
Psalms 22:6 – But I am a worm and not a man, scorned by men and despised by the people.

The greatest blow to our lives is the resentment that we experience from those who are dearest and nearest to us. They sink us deep in Ill-treatment, rejection and despising largely because of their wrong perception, bias, prejudice and misunderstanding. They tend to misinterpret our every move and misrepresent us in various corners. These personal attacks are so blatant as to take the rug out from under our feet. They use harsh and unkind words and mannerisms against us. Their looks often give us the feeling of fiery furnace. They sometimes even use physical abuse along with verbal and behavioral weapons to subdue us. Their every move hurt us and we are often dumbfounded. They treat as if we are worms which others can step on to annihilate. They use all arrows in their quiver to destroy us. Such fiery experiences come usually from our coworkers, kith and kin and sometimes ever from spouses and family members which make us wonder. We are not allowed to live and grow in our own ways as God leads us. David went through such bitter experiences in life when there was hardly anyone to support or sympathize with him. He had to drink a lot of tears to quench his soul’s thirst when no one understood his cause. He even thought in his exasperation that God would have also forgotten him. His heart melted like wax and he was fearful about the animal-like attacks which he had to face all alone. In those moments of great anguish and pain, God gave him a song to sing with eternal implications. God ministered unto him to be comforted in his soul. David was used by God to bless even his enemies and those who cursed him. God gave him hope for future because of the plans God had for him. So his soul jumped up like a doe in the morning with God’s vigor and vitality to praise Him for what He was doing for him. Today the God of David comes to revive us in our moments of hurts, battles, opposition and intimidation and to revive our souls to look to the future with hope in Him.

Dear reader, are you a victim of intimidation, confrontations, resentment, rejection and ill-treatment? Are your dear ones treating you like a worm with contempt and scorn? Are people considering you like dung and poured out water? Are their words hurting you deeply and making rivers of tears flow out of your eyes? Today you are comforted by God who comes to you with words of encouragement. Even when the whole world forgets you, He will not. When others use abusive language against you, God calls you, ‘dear child’ and holds you in His arms. He comes to dry your tears and strengthen you to keep serving those people who hurt you. He wants you to show His love to them even when they consider you as an inconvenience. He makes you strong to withstand all the pressures that people pour out on you. He gives you a large heart to absorb all the abuses and misunderstandings. David, Joseph, Paul and Nehemiah received such grace during abuse and intimidation. He will train you to bless your detractors in return for their curses and abuses. He will teach you patience and help you to trust Him to weather away these abusive situations and transform your life into a source of blessing. These bitter experiences teach you something about the abuses our Lord Himself endured on the cross. Today it is our blessed privilege to endure scorn and praise God for the patience He gives us moment by moment to withstand all pressures in life.

2 Corinthians 12:9 – “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.”

God’s grace makes a worm sing His praises and rejoice in the hope that He gives!
