The kingdom of Israel witnessed a decline after the golden age of Solomon; the seeds of this decay were sown in Solomon’s wrong choices. Rehoboam’s rude response to the requests of his subjects led to the kingdom of splitting into two; all the kings of the northern kingdom of Israel were motivated by personal ambition and had no commitment to Jehovah. In particular, Ahab, spurred by his wife Jezebel, filled the land with Baal worship, and all its accompanying immorality. The lives of the kings are a negative example for us, to illustrate how not to make choices, and how we cannot avoid the consequences of our choices.
