Solomon the wisest man said, “It is better to go to the house of mourning, than to go to the house of feasting: for that is the end of all men; and the living will lay it to his heart “.
Bible is the only book that deals with the origin, nature and devastating effect of Death. It also shows the only way out from the horror of Death.
Origin and nature of Death
Ro 5:12: As by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
Death came because of disobedience of one man Adam. This disobedience caused death to rule upon man. Moses in Psalm 90 describes the frail nature of man: It is like grass which grows up in the morning and in the evening it is cut down and withers…….for it is soon cut off and we fly off.
Bible calls death as the “way of all the earth” (1 King2:2). Fear of death, power of death and sting of death makes our life unbearable. (Heb2:14,15, 1 Cor 15:56). But thanks to our God who gives us victory in Lord Jesus Christ.( 1 Cor 15:57)
Devastating effect of Death
Death is a reality. Wisest man Solomon died, Oldest man Methuselah Died, Meekest man Moses died. Alexander the great conquered the whole earth and died at the age of 33 by a mosquito bite. Historians says that he died of malaria. There is no need of a big reason to die. Rich or poor, white or black, illiterate or literate all die.
Death made hundreds of children, orphans and fatherless. It has no mercy. It effects all nationality. It needs no visa or passport to cross over borders. Nobody can bribe death to pass by it. One day we will be gripped by the cold hands of death. We are in the Q.
Bible says it is appointed unto man once to die and then judgment.
How to escape Death?
Rev 14:13 describes the blessed state of those who die in the Lord.
There are two categories,
1. Fortunate death
2. Unfortunate death
One who die in the Lord are fortunate and those who die without Christ are unfortunate.
None of us came into the world to die. We always struggle to extend our life here.
But Jesus Christ came to die. He came to die for us. He shed His blood to cleanse us. His blood is sufficient to cleanse and purify our sins. It can cover all our sins. It has been written in the Bible that Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord. Only when we believe and die in the Lord Jesus, we will have a blessed death.
The Blessed are called home that they may rest from their labours and their works follow them. They will stand before the Lord to receive their due rewards.
The wicked will have no rest day or night and the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever.
Our dear departed ones who trusted the Lord are at the present, resting in His presence; awaiting to hear the voice of the Lord on that great day of resurrection.
Would you be there with us on that glorious day of our saviour Lord Jesus Christ?
