Drying my tears!
Verse for Today: Tuesday, September 03, 2013
John 11:33 – When Jesus saw Mary weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, He was deeply moved in spirit and troubled.
The world cannot envisage an invisible God moved with compassion on human beings. They think of our God as passive and indifferent because they search for Him in their vanities, hypocrisy and sinful imagination. But if we search Him on the pages of the Holy Writ, we will find Him as the most compassionate, merciful and loving God who understands the feelings of misery of His children. He doesn’t stand back and watch our pain, but always acts to alleviate our misery. He comes to show us how much He feels our pain, emptiness of heart, loss, separation, rejection and resentment. When His children cry, His heart is moved even today as it was in the days of His earthly ministry two millennia back. He takes our pain and loss as His own because He loves us so much. When we are His and He is ours, His Spirit who dwells in us moves His heart as our hearts are moved with the heaviness of our losses. When His church was hurt by Saul of Tarsus, He felt the pain and expressed it to the persecutor. Today when we are troubled and burdened and express our pain and loss through tears, He comes to us to dry our tears. Drops of genuine tear of pain and misery shed in His presence are priceless because our Lord honors it. He collects our tears in His bottle as a testimony. He comes to wipe our tears and give us joy like the rainbow in the midst of darkest clouds. Today our Lord Jesus is with us to sense our pain and tears and take it to Himself as He did in the lives of Martha and Mary.
Dear friend, are you going through the depths of pain, misery along with its resultant temporary or permanent loss, separation, failure and defeat? Is your situation so overwhelming as to fill your heart with grief and your eyes with uncontrollable tears? It is time to invite Jesus into your situation and hand it over to Him. He knows what you are going through with all your intimate feelings and emotions. He will come to meet you at the peak of your emptiness to turn your emotions of pain and misery into joy unspeakable. His nail-pierced hands will wipe your tears as He takes your tears over from you to transform it into victory. He will give you the strength to bear your situation as He bears it with you. When the Lord sees your yoke of pain and loss, He will hold the other end of the yoke. All that you go through are with His express knowledge and will. But He will transform it to times of jubilation as you wait for Him to act according to His design for your life. So, dear friend, please don’t lose your heart and composure, but be courageous as go to the Lord to unburden yourself today. He will carry your burden, wipe your tears, comfort you with His hands and dry your eyes. Remember, He cried for you in Gethsemane and on the cross so that your tears can be transformed into peace. Today He allows a ‘Bethany’ in your life to show you how much He cares for you and how compassionate He is. So be confident as you shed tears in His presence because Jesus will transform your lament into bliss.
Psalms 116:8 – For You, O Lord, have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears and my feet from stumbling.
Thought for Today
Our God transforms our tears in His presence into prisms of hope, rest, peace and joy in Jesus.
Prayer for Today
Dear Lord Jesus: Help me today to experience your wounded hands in wiping away my tears and fill me today with your peace and hope. Amen!
