1 Samuel 17:45 – David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defiled. We are engaged in a spiritual warfare and our armor is spiritual. We fight our grand enemies of world, flesh and Satan in the name of our Lord who is the embodiment of all power, strength, majesty and authority. The mere pronouncement of the name of our Lord is so powerful as to defeat and drive away the enemy who uses physical and psychological weapons to ambush us. He is a roaring lion who threatens to devour us, but when we confront him in the name of our Lord, we will see him disappear. The name of our Lord is a strong tower which the powers of darkness cannot penetrate. The enemy will try to scare us away, but we can gain confidence and courage from the victorious name of our Lord. In His name, demons run away, diseases disappear, disabilities removed, grief turns to joy, light comes in darkness, restlessness turns to sleep and peace, thirst is quenched, conflicts are resolved and needs are met. The enemy often comes to us in insurmountable appearances like Goliath to create fear and discouragement in us and we often accept defeat even without a fight. We retreat and allow the enemy to capture our territories without using the great ammunition of the name of the Lord that is given to us to use. When the name of the Lord is in our hearts and lives, there is no need for us to retreat or give in but to march forward in His name. King David knew this secret weapon and won all His victories through the marvelous and powerful name of the Lord. Gideon won his war against the Midianites in the name of the Lord. Moses spoke most authoritatively to Pharaoh in His name. Elijah and Elisha performed miracles in His name. The prophets ministered in His name. The Apostles did all their ministries in the name of the Lord. Today we have the privilege to fight against our enemies in the name of our Lord. There is a guarantee that if we fight in His name and for the sake of His name, we will surely get victory.
Dear reader, are you facing the enemy of your soul for a showdown in your life? Is he threatening you in your physical and emotional life? Is he using circumstances, situations, people and your own thought life to defeat you in your life of faith? There is no need for you to be afraid because you have the most potent weapon given to you by the Lord which is the name of the Lord. You can approach any enemy at any time with guaranteed results with this weapon. But for you to be able to use the name of the Lord as your sole weapon, you need to be filled with His Spirit and use His name in the power of His Spirit. You should also take care to use His name for His glory and honor and not for your selfish interests. You can use His name as a weapon to fight the enemy in your own life as long as it will lead to His glory. If the enemy comes to fight with you in the form of discouragement, depression, anxiety, doubt, loneliness or confusion, you can ask these to be removed in the name of the Lord. When temptations come and knock at your heart, the best weapon to use is the name of the Lord. When you face gossip, hatred, isolation, rejection and depravity, you can fight these agents of the enemy of your soul with the name of the Lord. The enemy will flee and you will be able to march from victory to victory in the name of your Lord. Today you have the privilege to use the name of the Lord as the potent weapon against all the enemies of your soul and enjoy victory in Jesus.
