Stopping and waiting!
Verse for Today: Monday, April 08, 2013
Luke 19:5 – When Jesus reached the spot, He looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.”
We often seek earthly help and support to get a glance of Jesus. We climb the world’s systems to get a glimpse of Jesus to satisfy ourselves. Often our sinfulness, failures and weaknesses create a mental block which keeps us away from drawing close to Jesus. But Jesus is interested in dwelling in our lives. He wants to draw us closer to Him in spite of our background, spiritual stature and public image. He asks us to shed our guilt and self pity to go near Him. In spite of the large crowd which followed Him, Jesus stops for one Zacchaeus to invite him, talk to him and to go with him to his house. Jesus wanted to help Zacchaeus to shed his inhibitions, confess his sins and failures so that his life can be rebuilt. Jesus drew unto Him people like Levi, Paul, Lydia, Mary Magdalene and scores of others to help them shed their guilt, past failures, losses and defeats. Today Jesus is looking around for all unrighteous, defeated and unfulfilled lives hand their lives over to Him. He wants to get into such lives and dwell there with them to help them rebuild their lives and use them for His glory. But it is important that we are willing to come down from our man-made hiding places of religion, charity work, pilgrimage and restitution to meet Jesus face to face. We must confess our failures and guilt to Jesus and submit ourselves for Him to take complete control.
Dear friend, are you finding it difficult to meet with Jesus to confess your failures ad to make Him the Lord of your life? Do you wonder whether He will receive you because of the overwhelming guilt that has pervaded your life? Do you lack confidence and courage in facing Jesus? But if your heart is penitent, He will recognize it and will invite you to go to Him. He will not scold or find fault with you, but will forgive all your sins if you confess it to Him. He will wipe away your past clean from all its failures and guilt and will make a new beginning. If you are willing to make Him the Lord of all areas of your life, He will fill your life with His glory. He will guide you in the future and help you with all your battles in life. Your life will then become an instrument in His hands to accomplish His purpose in and through you. He will rebuild your life and establish your testimony. He will help you to forget your past and help you to focus on the future victories that are in His eternal plan for your life. Remember how He rewrote the life of Mary Magdalene and made her a shining witness for Him. When Jesus comes in, He will change your life to make it shine like a lamp. No matter what your past failures are, He will change it all and make you a mighty power for Him just as He did in the life of Simon Peter with all his failures and defeats. Today Jesus is passing your way and asking you to come down from your hiding places and kneel before Him. He is stopping and waiting for you to come. He has come your way to give you an opportunity to surrender to Him with all your failures. He is interested in rebuilding your life and making you shine for Him. Today is your opportunity for transformation by Jesus if only you are willing to commit yourself.
Revelation 3:20 – Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if any one hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.
Thought for Today
The opportunity to meet with Jesus is the starting point in rebuilding our broken lives.
